Hawks Win 8-6 Walk-Off
|
Dave Taranto impressed in the 8-6 Chicago win over Seattle. Taranto, who finished 4th in the NBL in triples with 14 in 1967, was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The victory puts Chicago at 35-56.
The game was decided with two out in the bottom of the ninth. With Chicago trailing 6-4, Taranto jumped on a curveball from 33-year old right-handed pitcher Jerry Wilson and hit a grand slam home run to left. With one swing, the Hawks had a walk-off win.
Said Taranto: "What's not to like about a walk-off win?"
