The Houston Drillers got a superb performance from pitcher Bill Switzer, but the Los Angeles Pobladores still won the game, 1-0. Switzer threw 9.0 innings of shutout ball. Leon Fairley, who finished 2nd in the ABL in saves with 25 last year, was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-1. The losing pitcher was Larry Bilski. Los Angeles goes to 4-5.

Los Angeles got a knockout punch from Bob Wicke. The pinch hitter hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.

"We played a good game and came out on top," said Wicke.
