Seagulls Earn 13-12 Win Versus Drillers
The San Francisco Seagulls defeated the Houston Drillers, 13-12, in 14 innings. Bobby Tapia, who finished 4th in the ABL in on-base percentage with .415 in 1973, played a big role. Tapia was 5 for 8 with a home run, a double, and 3 singles, while scoring 3 and driving in 3 for the Seagulls in the win. Jerry Patrick was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 1 save opportunities. The Seagulls have an impressive 56-34 record.

San Francisco needed the clutch hitting of Scott Wagner to seal the deal. The third baseman swatted a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Seagulls on top, 12-11. For the game, Wagner had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"Our team showed some gumption," said Tapia. "I like it."
