The Houston Drillers snuck past the Toronto Hurons, 5-4, in 12 innings. Houston left fielder Jim Bitting, in particular, had a standout performance. The 5th-place Hurons have dropped 4 straight games.

Houston shortstop Chuck Walton contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to left-center field for a 2-run single. It was his 56th hit of the season and put the Drillers ahead, 4-1.

"This was one of those 'not to be denied' games," said Houston field general Steven Palps.
