Wranglers Dismiss Generals, 4-2
|
Due in large part to second baseman Dick Howard, the Dallas Wranglers sunk the Atlanta Generals, 4-2. Howard was 2 for 2 with 2 singles and 2 walks. The winning pitcher was Steve Coomes. He's now 9-6. He went 6 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits for the Wranglers. Frank Dunn earned the save for Dallas, his 15th of the year.
John Hammit, who finished 3rd in the ABL in slugging percentage with .466 in 1974, helped out the Dallas cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch. For the game, the third baseman went 2-3 with a triple and was hit by a pitch.
"I thought we played some darn good baseball," said Wranglers manager William Albrecht.
Dallas goes to 51-39. The win puts them 2 games up in their division.
