Denver Beats Kansas City as Purter Throws 2-0 Shutout
|
Willie Purter bent a little, but he didn't break against the Kansas City Bulls. The Denver Burros pitcher hurled a 3-hit, 2-0 shutout in a fine performance, surrendering 1 walk and tallying 7 strikeouts.
"Willie is good at getting out of jams," Burros manager Clark Anderson told reporters after the game. "He's almost more effective when he gets guys on base or gets behind in the count, because he uses your aggressiveness against you."
