Don Keough made an impact in the 5-2 Pittsburgh win over Brooklyn. Keough, who finished 2nd in the NBL in slugging percentage with .577 in 1972, went 3-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Picking up the win was Bob Briggs. He went 8 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits. The left--hander struck out 5 and walked 1. The win puts Pittsburgh at 53-38 this season.
Carlos Chavez, who finished 5th in the NBL in runs with 105 in 1973, took Brooklyn hurler Jorge Sandoval deep in the bottom of the third. His 2-run home run put the Industrials on top, 2-0. In all, Chavez had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
