Bobcats Sneak Past Traders, 6-5
|
Union Field was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Cleveland Bobcats and Chicago Traders.
Cleveland beat Chicago at Union Field, eking out a 6-5 win. The win was due in large part to second baseman Harold Batkin. He was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI. Cleveland reliever Ivan Rogue was the winner. His record is now 6-3. The losing pitcher was Mark Johnson. Chuck Pellegrino finished the game for Cleveland and earned his 1st save.
Cleveland used a clutch hit from Paul Hastings to get the win. The pinch hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Bobcats ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Hastings said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The Bobcats, at 44-46, sit in 5th place in the National Baseball League Eastern Division.
