Captains Capture Close Win
San Diego registered a win at San Diego Sporting Complex by beating the New York Knickerbockers, 4-3. Pitcher Len Pates was one reason why the Captains triumphed. The 4th-place Captains have won 5 straight.

Ron Roe was the walk-off hero for San Diego. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Captains center fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"Now that's my kind of ending," said a smiling Roe.
