The home crowd had a good time watching the San Diego Captains and New York Knickerbockers get after it.
Bob Underwood led New York to a win over San Diego. The final score was 8-5. Underwood collected 2 runs batted in, while going 4 for 5 at the plate. The right fielder also scored 2 times. Picking up the save was Ollie Hundley, his 20th.
Steve Wright hit a 2-run double off John Espersen in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Knickerbockers in front, 6-5. In addition to the double, Wright had 2 singles, while going 3 for 5.
"It was a solid, all-around game for us," said New York manager Timothy Widholm.
The win for the Knickerbockers raised their record to 48-44.
