Seagulls Lose to Empires, 7-1
|
The New York Empires defeated the San Francisco Seagulls, 7-1. Doing his part was catcher Eddie Ellison, who went 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs. Danilo Molina snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-0 on the season. Tim Stambaugh suffered the loss. The win lifted the New York record to 50-43.
New York took a 3-1 lead on Dave Matuzak's 11th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Matuzak hit in the bottom of the seventh, left San Francisco pitcher Tim Stambaugh visibly frustrated.
"We did a lot of things right," said Matuzak.
