Atlanta Crafts 3-2 Win
|
The Atlanta Generals and Montreal Habitants played an exciting game.
Montreal got a terrific performance from pitcher Oscar Rodela, but it wasn't enough to beat the Atlanta Generals. Atlanta won the LaSalle Stadium contest, 3-2. Rodela threw 8.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Gary Ovitt got the win, improving to 10-9. He pitched 8 innings, giving up 6 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 1 and walking 3.
Roberto Palacios delivered a big hit for Atlanta. The second baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Generals ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
Montreal manager Michel Alexandre Cauchon said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
Atlanta now has a record of 47-45 with the win.
