4-3 Loss to Burros Extends St. Louis Losing Streak
|
With right fielder Guillaume Moret leading the charge, the Denver Burros defeated the St. Louis Explorers, 4-3, at Gates Crescent Park. Moret, who finished 3rd in the NBL in hits with 177 in 1966, went 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs. Bob Langham was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 13 of 16 save opportunities. The win gives Denver a season record of 52-40.
Had Tom Gregory not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Gregory hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Burros.
In postgame remarks, Gregory applauded his team's "business-like approach."
