Eagles 8-5 Winners Versus Philadelphia
Thanks in large part to center fielder Jeff Lawler, the Washington Eagles beat the Philadelphia Quakers, 8-5. Lawler went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI. Pat Sullivan earned the win for Washington. He lasted 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 2. With the win, he raised his record to 6-5. Ricky Grill closed the door for Washington, picking up his 4th save of the year.

Washington first baseman Dustin Guest contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the sixth. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 91st hit of the season and put the Eagles ahead, 6-3.

"Very pleased with the effort on our side," said Lawler.

The Eagles improved their record to 41-53 with the win over Philadelphia.
