Eagles Get Hard-Earned Win
|
The Washington Eagles beat the Cincinnati Packers, 1-0, at Monument Field. Starting pitcher Alex Fonseca was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. The Eagles, at 44-49, inhabit 6th place in the National Baseball League Eastern Division.
The Eagles got a clutch hit from third baseman Jerry Duersch. In the bottom of the ninth, he hit a run-scoring single to right, to win the game for the Eagles.
"Alex did a nice job," said Eagles manager Juan Placeholder.
