New York Gets 5-1 Win
The New York Empires went home winners at Mission Field, thanks in large part to starter Andy Humphrey. Humphrey stifled the San Francisco Seagulls, enabling New York to grab the 5-1 win. Humphrey picked up the win for New York, going 8 innings. He gave up 1 run on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 6-7. The win lifted the New York record to 46-45.

There was more than one reason the Empires beat the Seagulls, but Humphrey's big at-bat in the top of the second was an important factor. He staked his team to a 3-1 lead when he hit a 2-run single.

"I didn't leave too many pitches out over the plate," said Humphrey.
