Northmen 5-3 Winners Versus Toronto
|
The Twin Cities Northmen picked up a win at Twin Cities Stadium, topping the Toronto Hurons, 5-3. On the mound for Twin Cities was right-hander Ben Hall. He played a principal role in the triumph. The winning pitcher was Hall, now 8-4. He tossed 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 3. Rick Lindstrom was called on to finish, recording his 14th save.
Had Rick Giardina not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Giardina hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Northmen.
"We did a lot of things right," said Giardina.
The 5th-place Northmen now have a record of 41-50.
