Hurons Bag 3-1 Win
|
Seton Hill Stadium was the site of the home opener for the Baltimore Lords. The contest featured a prime matchup between Dan Crumm of the visiting Toronto Hurons and John Pardoe of the Lords. The final score was 3-1, the Hurons getting the win. Dan Crumm turned in the best performance. Crumm yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. His record improves to 1-0. Al West was credited with the save for Toronto, his 1st of the season.
Toronto used the timely hitting of Don Jackson to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Hurons on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Gutsy performance by Dan," said Toronto manager Jim Burns.
