Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Detroit Wolverines were eager to watch Larry Black square off against Dan Crumm of the visiting Toronto Hurons. In the end, the Hurons won the game, 4-2, with Mike Beers leading the way. Toronto reliever Mike Beers picked up the win, while Larry Black took the loss for Detroit.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Dave Browning? The 25-year old third baseman Browning stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put Toronto up, 3-2. For the game, he was 2 for 3, including 1 double and 1 single.
"I'm just trying to make sure I'm focused for each and every pitch," said Beers.
