Knickerbockers Fall Short, 5-4, at San Diego
The San Diego Captains beat the New York Knickerbockers, 5-4, at San Diego Sporting Complex. San Diego center fielder Ron Roe had an outstanding performance. He went 2 for 3 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The wins continue to add up for San Diego. The latest makes it 7 in a row.

San Diego took a 5-4 lead on Randy Barnes's 22nd double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Barnes hit in the bottom of the seventh, left New York pitcher Jack Forbes visibly frustrated.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said San Diego manager Joe Mack. "It's usually not just one thing."
