Eagles Pull Out Late Win, 7-6
Jim Vadnais did all he could to help his team prevail. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Philadelphia Quakers from losing the game, 7-6, to the Washington Eagles in 12 innings at Quakers Stadium. Vadnais went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Washington reliever Dennis Dixon picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Bill Kaiser was saddled with the loss. Bob Viola recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 4 for 6.

Washington used the hitting of George Kill to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the 12th inning to put the Eagles on top, 7-6. For the game, Kill had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Juan Placeholder.

Philadelphia has now lost 5 straight.
