Seattle Tops Chicago, 7-3
The Seattle Emeralds defeated the Chicago Hawks, 7-3, at Hyde Park Stadium. Seattle was led by former first round draft pick Gary Patterson, who went 4-5 with 4 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Seattle pitcher Dave Gilson got the win, upping his record to 5-6. Kevin Edwards got the loss. The victory gives the Emeralds a record of 50-43.

There was more than one reason the Emeralds beat the Hawks, but Patterson's big at-bat in the top of the second was an important factor. He staked his team to a 1-0 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.

"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Seattle manager Mark Velez.
