Twin Cities and Chicago duked it out and the Northmen came out victorious.

The Twin Cities Northmen converted a terrific effort from starter Gerald Gross into a win over the Chicago Hawks at Hyde Park Stadium. The Northmen won the game by a final score of 5-2. The winner was Gross. He threw 7.0 innings allowing 2 runs. The loser was Steve Papa.

Rick Giardina went 1 for 3 for Twin Cities. The 25-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the top of the fourth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Steve Papa. It was his 23rd RBI of the season.

"I thought we played a nice game," Gross told the Twin Cities Chronicle. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."

The win for the Northmen raised their record to 51-44.
