Plumley Delivers Walk-Off Win for Wolverines
|
The Detroit Wolverines picked up a win at Wolverine Field, taking down the Baltimore Lords, 4-3, in 10 innings. On the mound for Detroit was right-hander Larry Black. He played a central role in the triumph. Gary Doll earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2 innings. He upped his record to 2-1. With the win, Detroit has a record of 50-42. Baltimore falls to 51-42.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the tenth. With Detroit trailing 3-2, Jerry Plumley hit a fastball from Phil Morris to center for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Wolverines had a walk-off win.
"I thought Larry threw the ball well across the board," said Detroit manager Alex Wobbema.
