Atlanta Earns 1-0 Win
|
In a tight tilt between the Atlanta Generals and the New York Empires, George Palmer was the deciding factor. The Atlanta left-hander spearheaded the 1-0 win. The winner was Atlanta reliever Dick McCranie, now 3-3. The loser was Tom Duncan. Atlanta is now 45-47, while New York is 55-40.
The decisive blow was delivered by Roberto Palacios in the bottom of the 12th when he hit a solo home run off 26-year old right-handed pitcher Tom Duncan to win the game for Atlanta. The home crowd went nuts.
Atlanta manager Philipe Yazzie called it "a darn good win."
