Explorers Victorious at New York, 4-2
|
St. Louis pitcher Dick Lott did his part in helping his team defeat the New York Knickerbockers, 4-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. Lott yielded 2 runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. His record improves to 5-7. The defeat makes New York 53-40.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Gary Parker? The St. Louis right fielder had a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Explorers on top, 3-2. For the game, Parker had 2 doubles and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Explorers manager Ray Fleetwood.
