Cincinnati Beaten, 6-4, by Denver
|
Despite a fine performance by left fielder Glenn Palmer, the Cincinnati Packers lost to the Denver Burros, 6-4. Palmer hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Jeff Munoz picked up the win with 8 innings of work. He allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 3. On the season, he is now 8-7. Rick Morton was called on to finish, recording his 18th save.
Ferry Pass, Florida-born Bobby Raley came through in the clutch. In the top of the ninth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Burros trailing 3-2, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Denver on top.
"Solid performance from our side," said Burros manager Clark Anderson.
Denver leads the National Baseball League Western Division by 4½ games.
