Baltimore beat New York in a rain-soaked ballgame.
Baltimore Lords starter Pete Veirs turned in an exceptional performance against the New York Empires at Queens Field, resulting in a Baltimore win, 4-2. Nate Summers earned the save for Baltimore, his 1st of the year.
Jim Pavlik had a direct impact on the outcome. Pavlik contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the third inning to put Baltimore up, 2-0.
New York manager John Harris said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
Baltimore sits at 5-4 in the early going.
