Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Montreal Habitants and Detroit Wolverines.

Daniel Chavez led Montreal to a win over Detroit. The final score was 6-4. The center fielder collected 2 extra-base hits, including 1 home run and 1 double. Hervé Lelièvre picked up the save, his 3rd.

Montreal right fielder Jim Compton helped the Habitants go up, 4-3, in the top of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Compton hit a run-scoring single off Detroit pitcher Jim Bryant.

Montreal manager Michel Alexandre Cauchon was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard," he said.

The first-place Habitants have a one-game lead in their division.
