Hurons Topple Empires, 11-6, as Lasseter Shines
|
The Toronto Hurons knocked off the New York Empires, 11-6, at Dominion Field. Max Lasseter was a big reason Toronto won. The first baseman went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. Toronto pitcher Ben Immel got the win, upping his record to 3-9. Larry Stanford got the loss. At 41-55, the Hurons are currently last in the American Baseball League Eastern Division.
Pete Hambrick had a big grand slam home run for the Hurons in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Toronto trailing 5-3 and the bases loaded, he got a sinker from former first round draft pick Larry Stanford and swatted a home run to left. It was his 9th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Hurons ahead, 7-5.
"We got the victory," said Hambrick. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
