Seagulls right fielder Jose Sosa left his imprint on his team's 10-4 win over the New York Empires. Sosa went 2-3 with a double and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for San Francisco in the contest. San Francisco pitcher Jimmy Trent got the win. He's now 6-6. Jon Pierce was tagged with the loss. The first-place Seagulls, at 60-35, lead the American Baseball League Western Division by 9½ games.

Jose Barroso had a big bases-clearing double for the Seagulls in the bottom of the first inning. With San Francisco trailing 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a sinker from Jon Pierce, who finished 3rd in the ABL in ERA with 2.30 in 1970, and swatted a double to left. It was his 10th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Seagulls ahead, 3-1.

"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Sosa told the San Francisco Herald.
