Hughes Helps Burros Win, 7-5, with Pair of Homers
A good performance from left fielder Leon Hughes helped the Denver Burros defeat the Brooklyn Bluebirds, 7-5. Hughes belted 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for the Burros. Dan Valenti, credited with the save, is now 3 for 4 in save opportunities. The National Baseball League Western Division-leading Burros are 63-34.

With Denver leading 4-1 in the top of the sixth, Hughes hit a sinker from Bill Keiser for a 3-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Burros ahead, 7-1.

"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Hughes.
