The New York Knickerbockers got a hard-earned win over the Los Angeles Blockbusters, 6-2, in 10 innings. Bob Marston provided some offensive muscle for New York. He went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. New York reliever Albert Green picked up the win, upping his record to 3-2. Jon Hampton was saddled with the loss. With the win over Los Angeles, the Knickerbockers improved to 48-46.

Jeff Madsen drew 1 walk in 5 trips to the plate for New York. The four-time All-Star had a key at-bat in the top of the tenth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Tom Benson. It was his 28th RBI of the season.

"Our team found a way to get it done," said Madsen.
