The San Diego Captains topped the Washington Eagles, 4-1, in National Baseball League action at Monument Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of San Diego pitcher Ray Heath. The win for the Captains lifted their record to 50-48.

In his 114-pitch effort, Heath allowed 1 run on 6 hits over 9 innings. He walked 0 and struck out 7.

"Ray went out and did what we needed," said San Diego manager Joe Mack.
