St. Louis Gets Another L, 5-3
|
Denver first baseman Bob Messinger had a 3-RBI performance, which helped his team down the St. Louis Explorers, 5-3. Bart Dunsley, the winner, goes to 2-1. He allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts over 8 innings. Earning his 3rd save of the year was Albert Green.
With Denver leading 3-0 in the top of the fifth, Messinger hit a fastball from Jimmy Trent for a 2-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Burros ahead, 5-0.
"Enjoyed this one," Messinger told the Denver Gazette. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
The Burros, now 9-2, have had a terrific start to the season.
