The Packers grabbed a win, 7-4, at Roman Arena, overcoming a fine effort from Cleveland pitcher Floyd Tucker. Tucker went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Steve Meckley claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record stands at 1-0. Cleveland is 5-5 after the defeat.

The decisive blow was delivered by Glenn Palmer in the bottom of the 13th when he hit a 3-run home run off 29-year old right-handed pitcher Steve Eaton to win the game for Cincinnati. The home crowd went nuts.

"I'm trying to keep it simple," said Palmer. "Just do my job."
