Behind the hitting of Al Castro, the New York Empires stopped the Boston Terriers, 6-3. Castro went 2 for 4 with a triple. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Empires. Jack Neenan nailed down his 3rd save. New York, at 8-2, has sizzled in the early going.

With New York trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the fifth, Castro hit a splitter from Bruce Shurtleff for a bases-clearing triple. It was his 2nd triple of the season and put the Empires ahead, 4-3.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Castro. "And not try to do too much."
