Hurons 8-5 Victors Over Atlanta
|
The Toronto Hurons downed the Atlanta Generals, 8-5, at Atlantic Station Field. The Hurons were led by Bill Hunt. Hunt was 4 for 5 with 4 singles, while scoring 2 times. Dan Crumm, the winner, improved to 6-5. He held the Generals to 3 runs on 6 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 3. After today's action, Toronto sits at 45-54; Atlanta slips to 42-53.
Toronto second baseman Edwin Alfonso contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fifth. With two down, he hit a cutter to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 14th hit of the season and put the Hurons ahead, 3-2.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Alfonso said after the game.
