Captains Shut Out Bluebirds, 6-0
|
The rain came, as predicted, but the San Diego Captains and Brooklyn Bluebirds were able to complete their ballgame.
The exploits of first baseman Freddie Boone, who is tied for 5th in the NBL in bases on balls with 58, helped the San Diego Captains defeat the Brooklyn Bluebirds, 6-0. Boone went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. The win was credited to Ray McKenzie in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Kevin Wade took the loss.
Tom Row hit a 2-run triple off Kevin Wade in the top of the second, which put the Captains in front, 2-0. Row had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 4.
Boone called it "a solid win."
The loss makes Brooklyn 46-52.
