Knickerbockers Beat Visiting Bluebirds, 9-1
The New York Knickerbockers downed the Brooklyn Bluebirds, 9-1, at Knickerbocker Stadium. Stellar pitching by Chris Hull had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who finished 3rd in the NBL in on-base percentage with .374 in 1968, handcuffed his opponent all game. New York goes to 5-6.

Steve Wright went 2-5 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for New York. The two-time All-Star had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring single off Jackie Richardson. It was his 13th hit of the season.

"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Wright.
