Brooklyn Stopped, 6-4, by St. Louis
|
Explorers right fielder Gary Parker left his imprint on his team's 6-4 win over the Brooklyn Bluebirds. Parker went 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for St. Louis in the contest. Bob Trout, the winner, is now 11-2. He struck out 1 and walked 3 over 6.2 innings, while allowing 4 runs on 8 hits. Bernie Tate got the save, his 14th in 19 chances.
The game turned with two out in the top of the fourth. That's when Parker hit a 3-run home run off Jorge Sandoval. It propelled the Explorers into the lead, 5-2.
"It was a solid, all-around game for us," said St. Louis manager Ray Fleetwood.
The win puts St. Louis at 51-45 this season.
