Schlener Hits Two Homers in 6-3 Win for Philadelphia
|
A 3-RBI performance from center fielder Ted Schlener, who is tied for 10th in the NBL in home runs with 16, led the Philadelphia Quakers to a win over the Pittsburgh Industrials, 6-3. Juan Ramirez picked up the win, improving his season record to 10-5. He struck out 4 in 9 innings. The victory gives Philadelphia a record of 53-46.
With Philadelphia leading 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Schlener hit a cutter from Bob Briggs for a solo home run. It was his 16th home run of the season and put the Quakers ahead, 4-2.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Schlener.
