Empires Win at Home, 3-1
|
Behind an impressive start by Danilo Molina, New York beat Seattle, 3-1. The winning pitcher was Molina, now 6-11. He tossed 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 2. Tom Duncan, credited with the save, is now 11 for 12 in save opportunities.
New York took a 3-1 lead on Dave Helms's 1st home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Helms hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Seattle pitcher Diego Favela visibly frustrated.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said New York skipper John Harris.
The Empires saw their record improve to 47-50.
