New York Downs Los Angeles, 3-0
|
In a tight tilt between the New York Empires and the Los Angeles Pobladores, Nate Frampton was the deciding factor. The New York right-hander spearheaded the 3-0 win. Picking up the save was Dave Kretz. He's now 2 for 2 in save chances. The American Baseball League Eastern Division-leading Empires have a record of 57-39.
The Empires got a big at-bat from second baseman Javier Abarca. For the game, Abarca went 1-2 with a home run and a walk. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave New York a 1-0 lead.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said New York skipper Dan Whiting.
