Denver pitcher Jim Thurlow did his part in helping his team beat the New York Knickerbockers, 3-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Denver, at 63-36, is 9½ games up in the National Baseball League Western Division.
Alejandro Rebolledo had a big run-scoring double for the Burros in the bottom of the third inning. With Denver leading 2-0 and a runner on 3rd, he got a fastball from Jack Forbes, who finished 5th in the NBL in wins with 16 in 1973, and swatted a double to center. It was his 23rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Burros ahead, 3-0.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," New York manager Sean Kelly said, following the tough loss.
