Cleveland took on Cincinnati in front of a lively crowd.

The Cleveland Bobcats spoiled a good performance by Cincinnati center fielder Ron Brown, bumping off Cincinnati, 7-4, at Roman Arena. Brown went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Joe Clabaugh was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 18 of 23 save opportunities.

In the top of the fifth, Cleveland third baseman Mark Bassett had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Bassett stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 6-2, Cleveland. For the game, he went 2 for 4 with 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs.
