Houston Draws Blanks Against Papa
|
A favor to his bullpen. That's what Steve Papa was doing at Hyde Park Stadium, as he blanked the Houston Drillers, 6-0.
"I went out there to try to eat up innings and help out our bullpen," the Chicago Hawks right-hander said later. "I felt I had my good stuff, and it turned out my command was solid."
Papa notched 4 strikeouts, surrendered 5 walks, allowed 4 hits, and kept the bullpen phone quiet all day long.
Checking out his stats for the year, Papa has racked up 8 wins and 7 losses in 20 starts, posted a 3.57 ERA, and struck out 75 batters in 143.2 innings.
