The Detroit Wolverines withstood an impressive performance by Atlanta right fielder Steve Walp to defeat the Generals, 4-2, at Atlantic Station Field. Walp was 3-3 with a home run and 2 singles. Warren Washington recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 8 for 13. With the win, Detroit raised its record to 53-45.

Detroit used the timely hitting of Troy Stallings to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Wolverines on top, 4-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Winning never gets dull," said Stallings.
