Traders Earn Win with Late Rally
Chicago beat Milwaukee at Milwaukee Municipal Stadium, escaping with a 6-5 win. The win in large part was due to right fielder Ron Byrd. He was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Jimmy Calhoun, 8-2, earned the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 2 innings. Sammy Mason earned the save, his 5th in 8 tries.

Chicago used a timely hit from Ken Mays to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Traders ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

"I play this game for myself and my family, but of course it's always nice when we can win," said Byrd.

Chicago improves to 62-38 with the win. They lead their division by 5½ games.
