Detroit Wolverines starter Scott Litwak pitched his team past the Houston Drillers, 10-2. The win elevated the Wolverines to 58-41.

Detroit used a well-timed hit by Bill Taylor to capture the win. The shortstop socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the second inning to put the Wolverines ahead, 4-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"We can't expect to win," said Houston manager Steven Palps, "when we play like that."
