In a low-scoring affair between the Montreal Habitants and the Toronto Hurons, pitcher Bob Schar was the difference between victory and defeat. The Montreal left-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-2 Habitants win. The American Baseball League Eastern Division-leading Habitants have a record of 56-44.
There was more than one reason the Habitants beat the Hurons, but Schar's big at-bat in the bottom of the fourth was an important factor. He staked his team to a 3-2 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.
"Bob pitched like a champ," said Montreal manager Michel Alexandre Cauchon.
