Quakers Lose at Home, 5-3
|
The Pittsburgh Industrials picked up a win at Quakers Stadium, knocking off the Philadelphia Quakers, 5-3. Starting pitcher Roger Long was a big reason why. Long yielded 3 runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 4, and struck out 7. His record improves to 6-10. Pittsburgh has won 3 straight, while Philadelphia has lost 3 in a row.
Pittsburgh used the hitting of Don Keough to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Industrials on top, 4-1. For the game, Keough had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Pittsburgh manager Vincent Wicker.
