Wranglers Suffer 8-7 Home Defeat
The Twin Cities Northmen beat the Dallas Wranglers, 8-7, in part because of left fielder Melvin Perez. He was 3 for 5 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Gary Forgette was the winner. He's now 6-9. The loser was 24-year old right-handed pitcher Art Stager. Rick Lindstrom finished the game for Twin Cities and earned his 15th save.

Twin Cities used a well-timed hit by Buddy Shingleton to capture the win. The shortstop socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Northmen ahead, 8-4. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

"I felt good up there," said Perez. "I saw the ball well."

The Northmen, at 45-55, sit in 5th place in the American Baseball League Western Division.
