The Atlanta Generals handed the Detroit Wolverines a loss at Atlantic Station Field. The final score was 4-3. Mike McRae was one of the major contributors for Atlanta. In addition to his 1 single and 1 home run, he scored 1 run and drove in 1. Frank Noorani came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record now stands at 5-11. The Generals improved their record to 44-55 with the win over Detroit.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, McRae hit a fastball from Elmer Bernstein for a solo home run. The Generals, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

McRae said this kind of win gives the team "a buzz."
