Wolverines Win, 8-4, at Houston
|
Eddie Taylor left his imprint on the 8-4 Detroit win against the Houston Drillers. Taylor, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1962 draft, went 3-4 with 3 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Detroit pitcher Jim Bryant got the win. He's now 10-6. Tom McAteer was tagged with the loss. Detroit goes to 59-41. The win puts them 2½ games up in their division.
With Detroit leading 3-2 in the top of the third, Taylor hit a 2-run single off Houston hurler Tom McAteer. It was the 71st hit of the season for Taylor and put his team ahead, 5-2.
"Our goal is to improve each and every day," Taylor told the Detroit Citizen.
