Hurons Best Wolverines in Pitching Duel
The Toronto Hurons ushered in the 1976 season with a win versus the Detroit Wolverines at Dominion Field. The final score was 1-0. Starting Pitcher Dan Crumm, who finished 4th in the ABL in innings pitched with 257.1 in 1969, had a standout performance. Larry Haddock collected save number 1.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Hurons had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when first baseman Max Lasseter hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Juan Rodriguez and made the score 1-0, Hurons. Lasseter was 1-3.

"I liked his command," said Toronto manager Jim Burns. "Dan was throwing strikes."
