Hurons Rack Up 6-2 Win Versus Boston
|
The Toronto Hurons put one in the win column with an opening day 6-2 triumph over the Boston Terriers. The crowd at Dominion Field watched Dan Crumm put on a fine performance.
Jorge Luna, who led the ABL in slugging percentage with .555 in 1971, took Boston hurler Ken Torkelson deep in the bottom of the third. His 2-run home run put the Hurons on top, 3-1. In all, Luna had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
Toronto manager Jim Burns commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
