Terriers Hand Montreal 3-2 Loss
|
The Boston Terriers ushered in the 1973 season with a win versus the Montreal Habitants at Atlantic Avenue Grounds. The final score was 3-2. Starting Pitcher Bruce Shurtleff, the 5th overall pick in the 1970 draft, had a standout performance.
Eddie Hernandez had a big run-scoring triple for the Terriers in the bottom of the third inning. With Boston leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Bob Schar, who finished 2nd in the ABL in strikeouts with 197 in 1962, and swatted a triple to center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Terriers ahead, 3-1.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Boston manager David Molina.
